Best Cancer-Preventing Foods
Good foods to eat!
We all want to be healthy and eat right. Below are some of the best cancer-preventing foods. Try to include as many of them into your diet as often as possible!
The
fruits & vegetables need to be organic. See below regarding the Dirty Dozen.
The Dirty Dozen!
Every year the Environmental Working Group puts out the "Dirty Dozen" list. These are the fruits and vegetables that tested as having high pesticide residue. Not all pesticides wash off under the tap at home. You can reduce your exposure to these pesticides - by 80%! - if you switch to organic for the following:
Listed in order of number of pesticides:
- 64 pesticides!
- 62
- 59
- 52
- 49
- 49
- 48
- 42
- 42
- 37
- 34
- 33 pesticides
Then there is the Clean 15!
Some fruits and vegetables have a strong outer layer that are a great defense against pesticide residue and contamination. The Environmental Working Group found 15 non-organic fruits and vegetables that contain little or no presticides. They call these the Clean 15:
| Onions | Avocados | Sweet Corn |
| Pineapples | Mango | Sweet Peas |
| Asparagus | Kiwi Fruit | Cabbage |
| Watermelon | Eggplant | Canteloupe |
| Grapefruit | Sweet Potatoes | Sweet Onions |

Fresh, the new food documentary by Ana Sofia Joanes, celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet.
